Adventure
is the soul of Vermont. The Green Mountains overflow
with outdoor sports.
Challenge yourself with a
cross-country bicycle ride to the top of a ski lift,
thousands of miles of tree lined country roads, or
any one of the many organized races held annually.
Come hike a section of the Long Trail, leaving
civilization behind for the solitude and beauty of
the forest. Kayak, canoe, fish, and swim in our
crisp, clean mountain streams and rivers. Icy waters
rapidly flowing down pristine mountainsides make
awesome photo ops and memories that linger for
years.
Winter is the inspiration. Follow the spine
of the Green Mountains and experience winter in your
own style. In addition to outstanding downhill
skiing and snowboarding, Vermont offers backcountry
skiing, snowshoe and cross-country trails, sledding,
dog sledding, sleigh rides, snowmobiling and
ice-skating. You see, you don’t have to be a skier
to enjoy winter in Vermont.
Equality is our color. The beauty of Vermont
lies not only in its natural resources, but also in
its people and its laws. Vermont’s progressive
attitudes towards equal rights for all people
started when it became the first state to abolish
slavery. In the year 2000, it became the first state
to provide civil unions, legally recognizing
committed same-sex couples. In 2009, it became the
first state to pass a gay marriage law by
legislation rather than court order. We welcome our
lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, transgender friends and
allies to enjoy all of Vermont’s beauty.
